According to industry sources, the delivery time of MCU and power MOSFET chips has been further extended, which will continue to push up chip prices in the second quarter of 2021.

The digitimes report pointed out that it is expected that power management ICs and MOSFETs will rise another 10-15% in the second quarter. Industry insiders said that recently new customers are getting in touch with MOSFET suppliers in Taiwan, and they are willing to get more supplies at high prices. Among the larger international counterparts, the delivery time of MOSFETs has been extended to 40 weeks.

In addition, industry insiders said that Renesas Electronics has added to the shortage of MCU supply. Recently, MCU quotations have risen by 10%. At the same time, the demand for MCUs for interactive toys, home appliances and safety applications has shown seasonal growth. Starting from the second quarter, the market environment will benefit MCU suppliers in mainland China and Taiwan.
